Biography
A life shaped by service and conviction
D.K. Shivakumar serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). A nine-time MLA from Kanakapura, he is widely respected for his organisational mastery, crisis management and unwavering loyalty to the Indian National Congress.
As Bengaluru Development Minister and the Minister for Major & Medium Irrigation, he has driven landmark infrastructure projects including Cauvery water for Bengaluru, the Mekedatu balancing reservoir vision, and the modernisation of the state's irrigation network.
His leadership steered the Karnataka Congress to a historic victory in 2023 and continues to inspire the Ballari District Youth Congress with the discipline, dedication and grassroots presence he embodies.
