For families in Ballari, where many run small businesses, auto-rickshaws and farm operations on tight margins, the hike was not an economic data point — it was a direct attack on monthly survival. The Ballari District Youth Congress, under President K Srikanth, mobilised within hours to lead a public protest from the heart of the city.
